The Courageous Anne Hutchinson

Anne Hutchinson is a woman I can really respect. She put herserlf out in the open and tested the water. I feel she secretly wanted to see the reaction from the church but she was mainly doing what she thought was right. She was a woman with power over men, which at the time was never seen before. She followed God and listened to His word and gained followers along the way. She battled many different higher powered men, who wanted nothing but to bring her down. She has self-respect, which let her follow what her innervoice told her to do. I look up to Anne for her confidence and courage to follow what her heart told her was right. The world today is in need of more political figures that can prove that there is a better tomorrow. Anne changed their society for the better in many ways. Without her outstanding heroic behavior, the church could have had power over all the people for decades after she was banished, who knows?

"The Courageous Anne Hutchinson" touched me in that I believe that all women need to be amazingly strong and stand up for what they believe-and to try and make a difference in life. Clearly, Anne succeeded in achieving these goals! I have three daughters of my own- and Anne is someone I would want them to emmulate. To think with your heart, make sure God is in your thought process at all times, and most of all to stand up to all that try to bring you down is no small task...Anne especially in her era was probably even more so a women's hero. As it was incredibly hard to achieve this kind of strength among men. In the paper today-on the front page of the Chicago Tribune is an article about how Hillary Clinton is leading the Democratic pack of presidental candidates. It talks about is our country ready for a woman president? Hillary sounds like she is much like Anne--they ultimately have the same goals in mind...only in different points in history. I'm sure Anne would have never envisioned a woman president...she was simply trying to have a voice among men. Hillary has achieved this voice among men...and may just beat all the men in her path. Thankfully, history has embraced the evolution of women and supported them. I am thankful for all the COURAGEOUS women all thru history who have made a difference! Mrs.Lyons
